History:

The Lake Geneva Public Library, built in 1954, was a favorite haunt for Gary Gygax, who sought out books on history, mythology, science fiction, and fantasy. Gygax listed the books he found here and many other places that inspired his writing of Dungeon & Dragons® in his legendary "Appendix N" list.

The Library, in concert with the Gygax Memorial Fund, has dedicated the Appendix N Alcove for these "arcane" books. Secreted in the Alcove, along with these tomes, is a potent magic item that will empower generations of knowledge seekers—the magical Throne of Reading!
