About:

I am a visionary artist accomplished in a multitude of creative disciplines related to the book arts: digital art, cover illustration, photography, copywriting, and editing.

As a writer/illustrator, I'm a powerful visual communicator who works intelligently with archetypes and symbols, understands their significance, and uses them appropriately so I can successfully tickle peoples' imaginations through words and images. Guided by the power and spirit of beauty, my work serves to bridge the comprehension of important concepts.

One exciting thing currently under development is my "Color Me Healed," System. I use the power of color and the act of coloring to help people deepen their healing meditations.

I began my career in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as the first female fantasy artist for role-playing games (RPGs). My sensitivity to Gothic letters, Medieval art, and my skills in calligraphy lent a look of authenticity to the burgeoning RPG industry during the vintage era of the 1980s. I developed a fantasy adventure "The Story of Jasmine," which continues through monthly installments on Patreon.com/darlene_artist

I earned my MFA in Design at Indiana University (1987) where I honed my intuitive sensibilities for sculpting spacial relationships. Applying the principles of Sacred Geometry has contributed to my ability to communicate subtly but powerfully on multiple levels. My graphics work has a classic and harmonious feel.

By the early 1990s, I moved from being a calligrapher with Gothic sensibilities to a type designer with the Renaissance ideals of space division and proportion. I share my 40-year prowess with letters at Patreon.com/lettertopia

In the early 2000s, I worked in the corporate world as a trusted and valued team member. I worked as the in-house printer and marketing specialist for a multi-million dollar corporation. I retired and became a free agent again. Now, as an independent, I seek creative partnerships to share my advanced skills in digital art, graphics/logo design, book covers, and illustration.

Specialties: logo designer, publication designer, book illustrator, children's book & fantasy illustrator, greeting card designer, game designer, graphic design instructor, and creator of fonts.
